Free + Pro feature · AI Image Generation
Create relevant WordPress featured images inside the same publishing workflow.
Let SitePublisher AI prepare a professional editorial image for your article, or use a real photo from the WordPress Media Library. Text, image, review and publication stay together—without moving between separate creative tools.
One image per request · Stored in WordPress · OpenAI API usage billed separately
Useful images, not random decoration
Control the source, format and quality of every featured image
SitePublisher AI uses the article and Website Profile context to create an editorial prompt. You decide whether to generate an image, use an existing photo or replace the result before publication.
Article-aware prompting
The automatic prompt uses the article title and relevant context such as country and primary keyword to keep the image connected to the actual subject.
Three practical formats
Choose landscape at 1536 × 1024, square at 1024 × 1024 or portrait at 1024 × 1536, depending on the intended placement.
Three quality levels
Use Low for an economical preview, Medium as the recommended balance or High when the highest image quality justifies the higher API cost.
Local Media Library storage
Generated images are first stored as normal WordPress Media Library attachments, complete with a usable file, preview and article-based alt text.
Your own photo remains an option
Select or upload a real image from the current WordPress Media Library. When a valid photo is selected, no AI image request is made.
Replace before publication
Edit the featured-image prompt and generate another format or quality from the review panel without regenerating the completed article.
Integrated from start to finish
Generate the text first, then prepare its image
Image creation is part of the article job, but it remains a separate OpenAI request. The default Single Article path creates a landscape image at Medium quality after the text is ready.
Connect an API key before generating images. OpenAI charges the image request directly through your account; it is not included in a SitePublisher AI Free or Pro license.
Connect OpenAI
Add your OpenAI API key through Platform Settings. The image action remains unavailable until a working key is configured.
Choose AI or your own photo
Keep Generate AI photo selected, or choose a valid image from the WordPress Media Library to avoid an AI image request.
Create the article
SitePublisher AI prepares and checks the text first. This keeps a failed image request from discarding or regenerating completed content.
Store the featured image
A successful AI result is validated and added to the Hub’s Media Library as a reusable WordPress attachment.
Review and publish
Inspect the article and image together. Save a draft, publish locally or let Pro upload the media to the selected remote WordPress destination.
Available at every scale

Clear safeguards
Every image request is controlled, validated and contained
Image generation can cost money and return large files. SitePublisher AI therefore limits the request, checks the result and keeps article generation separate from image failure.
One request at a time
- One generated image per request
- Replacement images require confirmation
- Bulk clearly states one request per selected job
Validated before storage
- Only supported formats and quality levels
- Image type is checked before saving
- A 25 MB safety limit is enforced
The article remains available
- An image error does not erase the text
- The job moves to review with a clear message
- Raw image data is never written to logs
Human review remains central
Keep the first result or create a better fit
Open the completed article to see its image, model, dimensions, quality and Media Library reference. You can adjust the prompt and create a replacement without generating the article again. Each replacement is a new paid OpenAI request and is stored as a separate Media Library item, so the existing result is not silently overwritten.
Frequently asked questions
AI Image Generation
Practical answers about access, API costs, image formats, storage and errors.
Is AI Image Generation included in Free?
Yes. Free can generate a featured image for Single Article Creation on the current WordPress website. OpenAI API usage is charged separately by OpenAI.
Do I have to use an AI-generated image?
No. Select or upload a real photo through the current WordPress Media Library. A valid selected photo prevents the automatic AI image request.
Which image formats and quality levels are available?
Choose landscape 1536 × 1024, square 1024 × 1024 or portrait 1024 × 1536, with Low, Medium or High quality.
Where is a generated image stored?
It is first stored in the WordPress Media Library of the SitePublisher AI installation. Pro can then upload it to a connected destination website during publication.
Does generating a replacement cost extra?
Yes. Every newly generated or replacement image is a separate paid OpenAI API request. SitePublisher AI asks for confirmation before a manual replacement request.
What happens if image generation fails?
The completed article remains available. The job moves to review with an image error, allowing you to correct the issue or use another photo without regenerating the text.
